For New Co-Occurring Disorders Professional Credential

Requirements:

The PA Certification Board (PCB) is pleased to announce a new Co-Occurring Disorders certification. The Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional (CCDP) and the Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional Diplomate (CCDP Diplomate) credentials for those who meet the requirements and apply under this special test-exempt status. The requirements. The requirements are as follows:

Education

CCDP: Minimum bachelor's degree or CAC plus 110 hours of relevant education including 6 hours of ethics, 6 hours of cultural competency, and 6 hours of communicable diseases. Within the 110 hours of education, 35 must be integrated and specifically related to the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the tasks within the Co-Occurring Disorders Professional performance domains. These domains are: screening & assessment, crisis management, treatment planning, counseling, case management, person, family, & community education, professional responsibility, clinical supervision, research design & application.

CCDP Diplomate: Minimum master's degree or CAC plus. (same as above). Master's degree must be specific to counseling, psychology, or a closely related field. Applicants with a relevant state issued license and an acceptable specialized credential are exempt from the 110 hours of education.

Supervision

300 hours of clinical supervision received in the performance domains. Supervision is defined as the administrative, clinical, and evaluative process of monitoring, assessing, and enhancing performance.

Experience

CCDP: Three years (6000 hours) of employment in the delivery of counseling services to individuals, families, or groups with mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders or delivery of supervision to those providing said counseling services obtained over the past 7 years. One year (2000 hours) of the required work experience must be providing integrated services to clients with co-occurring disorders.

CCDP Diplomate: Same as above. Applicants with a relevant college internship/practicum or a relevant state issued license and specialized credential need only document 2 years (4000 hours) of said employment.

Code of Ethical Conduct

All applicants must sign and abide by the PCB Code of Ethical Conduct.

Written Exam:

All applicants must take and pass the CCDP written exam.

Recertification

CCDP: 50 hours of PCB approved continuing education of which 13 must be integrated and 3 in ethics every two years.

CCDP Diplomate: 40 hours of PCB approved continuing education of which 10 must be integrated and 3 in ethics every two years.
